Terms of Service
Effective May 30, 2026
These are the terms for working with Scripture Studios LLC (“the studio,” “I,” “me”). They're written plainly on purpose. A signed proposal or statement of work sits on top of these and wins on anything specific.
What I do
Custom web design and development, hosting setup and referrals, and ongoing maintenance retainers — mostly for service businesses and small operators. I build things to fit your business, not the other way around.
Projects and payment
- Deposit. A 50% deposit is due when you sign the proposal. I block off time and start work once it lands.
- Balance. The remaining 50% is due at launch.
- Out-of-scope changes. Anything outside the proposal's scope is billed hourly at the current studio rate, quoted in writing before I start.
- Late payment. Unpaid invoices past 30 days may pause active work until cleared.
Ownership and portfolio rights
- On final payment, you own the final deliverables — the code, content, and design produced specifically for your project.
- I keep the right to show the work in my portfolio and in case studies (screenshots, written breakdowns, before/after) unless we've signed an NDA.
- I keep ownership of any general-purpose tools, libraries, or boilerplate I built before or outside your project; you get a license to use them as part of your deliverable.
Hosting and maintenance retainers
- Retainers are billed monthly in advance.
- You can cancel anytime — the current month finishes, and you won't be billed again.
- Partial months are not refunded. Unused hours don't roll over unless we've agreed otherwise in writing.
This website
Separate from client work: the design, layout, code, copy, photography, and case studies on Scripture Studios LLC's own website belong to the studio. You're welcome to read it, link to it, and share it. You may not copy it, clone it, scrape it, or feed it to an automated tool that reproduces it as a derivative site — whether by hand or by software — without written permission.
Automated access that ignores this — bulk crawling, site cloning, or harvesting the content to train or generate a competing site — is unauthorized use, and the studio will pursue takedowns and any remedies available under copyright law.
Third-party services
Most builds rely on outside platforms — hosting, payment processors, email delivery, mapping, and so on. Their uptime, pricing, and policies are theirs, not mine. I can't warrant their service, and the studio isn't liable for their outages, price changes, or shutdowns. I'll help you migrate if one of them stops being a fit.
Warranty disclaimer
Work is delivered “as is.” I stand behind the craftsmanship and will fix defects in delivered work within a reasonable window after launch, but I make no other warranties — express or implied — including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, the studio's total liability for any claim arising out of our work together is capped at the total fees you paid me in the 12 months before the claim. I'm not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — lost profits, lost data, lost opportunities, and the like.
Termination
Either of us can end an engagement in writing. If you end it mid-project, the deposit is non-refundable and any work completed beyond the deposit is billed at the studio rate. I hand off everything completed to date.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute is handled in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey.
